General-

Floresville is named for early rancher, Don Francisco Flores de Abrego, who established his ranch about six miles northwest in 1832. In 1833 this ranch became the heart and nucleus of today's present town. This city is founded on land donated by the generous Flores family.

Floresville is the current Wilson County seat, and has been so since 1885.

Floresville boasts a productive growing season of some 285 days!! This temperate climate makes this city and surrounding communities a marketing point for watermelons, flax, cotton, beef cattle, dairy and poultry products.

The popular Little Peanut Statue located at the local courthouse lawn recognizes peanut crops productive growth in this area.

Canary Islanders Cemetery-

Established prior to 1732 by islanders who formed the first organized civil settlement in Texas at San Fernando de Bexar, which is now San Antonio. Several Texas families can trace their lineage from these history making colonists. Located off the U.S. 181 some two blocks north at Texas 97/F,M. 536 intersection (Plum & 10th St.,).
